If you have seen René Slott aka In Curti live you wouldn´t doubt that this is a young man who lives deep inside of the music. In his world the body and the music is knitted closely together as a unity and sexual power living through the heavy beats and intens vocals.
The big sister of René used to hear the classic Depeche Mode records on full volume, and today he mentions this as one of the primary reasons why the music sounds as it does. There was just something about the slightly decadent and dark sound combined with dance oriented beats that got stuck inside of him.
Even though the references to 80´s synth like Depeche Mode, Human League and some of Bowies music are obvious, you can´t call it a 80´s pastiche. The sound also echoes the electronic tendencies of the last century like hard dubbed beats and funky house. But with In Curti the house/techno tendencies are more likely to express a feeling of bad trips or the feeling of guilt and paranoia the day after partying than your normal rave thing. Sometimes though, it can all be about a certain nihilistic kind of happiness.
